746-fb-senior-dayRose-Hulman Fightin’ Engineers will take on a Spanish All-Star team led by Reus Imperials head coach Bart Iaccarino in Reus, 90 minutes southwest of Barcelona, at 2pm local time / 8am US ET on Sunday, June 8.

The Fightin’ Engineers had been scheduled to face the Imperials on June 7, but the Spanish Serie B team has enjoyed a successful season and has advanced to its domestic league playoffs and will clash with a first division team 24 hours earlier.

The Spanish All-Star team facing the Fightin’ Engineers will feature players from across the nation, eager to line up against American opposition and joining the roster from Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza and Madrid for the game at the Reus Soccer Club stadium.

a_lnfa“We congratulate the Reus Imperials on their successful season and also thank their head coach Bart Iaccarino for coaching the All-Star team that will take on the visiting Rose-Hulman team,” said Global Football President Patrick Steenberge. “There are many talented players spread across Spain who will now have an opportunity to showcase their abilities and measure themselves against the 2013 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title winners.

Arriving in Spain on Tuesday, June 2, the traveling Rose-Hulman party will begin their overseas tour by discovering brilliant Barcelona, a city of graceful Gothic churches, wrought-iron balconies and wide, grand avenues filled with outdoor cafés. They will visit Parque Güell, a garden complex with architectural elements designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and see Montjuïc Hill, where the 1992 Summer Olympic Games took place. The group will enjoy a Tapas dinner and a Flamenco show, and take an excursion to Montserrat, with its mountain setting providing a dramatic backdrop for the 9th-century monastery whose basilica houses the Black Virgin Mary of Montserrat.

They will take a trip to Tarragona, a city with thousands of years of history, and will have a free day in Salou to relax and enjoy the beach, before rounding off the trip with an evening cruise along the Costa Dorada coast in a private catamaran.
