Finland’s Junior Varsity team claimed the nation’s first-ever victory at the Pop Warner International Super Bowl with an 18-9 victory over Puebla from Mexico at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports on Thursday.
The Finns eliminated the turnovers that had contributed to a 27-0 loss to the Mexicans on Monday to secure the win. “Our boys are learning fast how to play at the International level,” said Finland General Manager Henri Kurki.
Earlier in the day, Finland had lost 6-0 to the EAFL Falcons from the United Arab Emirates, who added to a 13-7 win over Puebla from Monday.
